In an attempt to reduce the incidence of plastic product failure it must be understood that while plastics are tremendously versatile materials, they have their limitations. For the designer and engineer it is a practical necessity to understand their fundamental nature, limitations and failure modes to reduce the likelihood of product failure.
There is at times a fine line between good product design, correct material selection and failure that can be easily crossed. Attention must be paid to the many variables that can influence plastic properties, of which seemingly small differences can have a dramatic affect on plastic and product performance.
This Web Seminar will introduce participants to the characteristics of plastics and potential failure modes which ultimately will dictate their performance in the field for a given application.
Who will benefit from this web seminar:
- Engineers responsible for product development and/or material selection of plastic products or components
- personnel responsible for specification of plastic components within end-use applications
- Quality Assurance and Technical Service personnel
Benefits of participation:
- avoid product failure in future by understanding the possibilities for failure
- avoid the costs associated with product failure
- avoid loss of reputation
- avoid expensive litigation costs
Presenter:
Andrew Hulme PhD, B.Eng, AMIMMM, Consultant, Smithers Rapra
