Blow moulding is a commercially important polymer processing operation used in the manufacture of a diverse range of hollow plastic articles, including bottles and jars, appliance housings, furniture, toys, sporting goods and automotive components.

This Rapra Review Report provides a review of the development and current understanding of blow moulding technology. The history and technology of blow moulding are reviewed and details are given on the research carried over the last 30 years in order to better understand the fundamental phenomena affecting the different stages of the process, and their interdependence in controlling final part characteristics. The review is supported by an indexed section containing some 400 references, with abstracts, to the international literature in this field, selected from the Polymer Library.
