Demands on plastics materials continue to advance, and blending two or more materials can produce a product with the best properties of all the constituent parts. Blending also enables materials producers to produce tailor-made products for specific applications, with substantially less investment than the development of entirely new materials.

This Review Report explains the theory of blending materials which may be essentially incompatible, and the importance of morphology to physical properties. The properties and applications of commercially available blends of engineering thermoplastics are then described.
