Chemical and Polymer UK and Chemserve, a division of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in the UK, organised an international conference in April 1994 to exchange information on developments in fluorinated products for medicine and biotechnology. The major themes were intermediates, pharmaceuticals, gas transporting liquids, imaging, polymers, skin protection, wound dressing and the integration between them. Thirty-two papers were presented from European and US medical research institutes, academia and commercial research centres and these have now been fully published by Rapra Technology
