Silicone Elastomers: The Material of Choice?
21 Jul 2010SHROPSHIRE, UK - iSmithers, formerly the Information division within independent testing, research and consulting organisation Smithers Rapra, has announced dates for its fourth international Silicone Elastomers conference, in Cologne on 30-31 March.
With a unique combination of properties not found in organic elastomers, silicone elastomers are fast emerging as the material of choice in applications where durability and safety in use are particularly important. Despite the higher costs, silicone elastomers have established a niche in the automotive, electronics, medical device and food processing industries and, it seems, their demand is growing.
The two day conference will look at a range of silicone elastomer materials, including high temperature vulcanised (HTV), room temperature vulcanised (RTV) and liquid silicone rubber (LSR), providing a forum for manufacturers, processors, designers and researchers to share developments in new applications and processing technologies. The 2011 event will also feature an optional site visit to the facilities of bronze conference sponsor, Momentive Performance Materials, for a live demonstration of silicone processing.
iSmithers is currently recruiting speakers for this high profile event. All abstracts should be directed to Alix Reeves, areeves@ismithers.net by the deadline 17 September 2010. For more information about this conference and a list of suggested topics please visit www.polymerconferences.com.
