SHROPSHIRE, UK- iSmithers, formerly the Information division within independent testing, research and consulting organisation Smithers Rapra, has launched Biocides in Synthetic Materials, the second international conference of its kind to cover the use and regulation of biocides in synthetic materials such as plastics, textiles and surface coatings.  The conference will take place in Berlin on 28-29 September 2010.

The conference has been designed to address not only the proposed changes to the regulation of biocides in the EU and their potential impact for both suppliers of biocides and formulators of treated articles but also the new formulations of biocidal blends that this changing regulatory landscape is bringing about.  Papers will look at novel approaches to real world challenges such as sick building syndrome and the functional modification of synthetic materials to achieve effects in textiles, medical devices and non-porous surfaces.

The two day conference boasts a speaking panel that includes Syngenta Crop Protection AG, DuPont Teijin Films, Ciba Vision Corporation, The Dow Chemical Company and BioGate.

To view the technical programme and to receive further details about this event visit www.polymerconferences.com or email conferences@ismithers.net.  All registrations received by 20 July will be entitled to a €300 discount.
