  • What is a Web Seminar?

iSmithers Web Seminars are real-time presentations, delivered direct to you at your computer.  Our Presenters will speak to you and share their presentation with you and your fellow participants over the internet.  You will be able to hear the presenter and speak to them by your telephone or VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) headset.  You will also be able to communicate with them via a ‘chat’ line.

  • What is the duration of a Web Seminar?

The duration time will be stated on the Web Seminar description page.  Typically this is approximately 90 minutes, roughly one hour of presentation and 30 minutes for Questions and Answers after the Web Seminar.

  • How do I register for a Web Seminar?

You can register for the Web Seminar online from the secure online registration facility.   Or you can download a registration form to fax/email back to iSmithers (there is a link to both online registration and the registration form on each individual Web Seminar description page).

Whichever registration method you choose, you must first complete the registration giving payment details.  Once your payment has been confirmed, iSmithers will then send you an invitation to enroll yourself onto the web seminar.  Once you have enrolled from this invitation, you will receive an email containing your unique link to the web seminar.

NB: If you register online you will receive a confirmation of your order by email straight after you have made your transaction, but you will still need to enroll yourself onto the seminar from the invitation that we send to you once your payment has been verified.

  • How do I log into the Web Seminar on the day?

Once you have registered from our invitation (see above) you will receive an email containing a link to get you into the seminar. You simply need to click on this link to join the Web Seminar.  We suggest you do this at least 15 minutes before the web seminar is due to commence.

  •  What are the options for payment?

For speed and ease of administration we will only accept payment by credit card for Web Seminar registrations.  Payments made online can be made in GPB, Euro or USD, simply by using the 'Change Currency' button in the Shopping Cart.   Payments made via hard-copy registration form to Smithers Rapra can only be paid in GBP.

  • Can I cancel my registration?

You can cancel your order at any time prior to the Web Seminar by emailing training@rapra.net .  All cancellations made the day before the dateof the Web Seminar wil be charged at 30% of the total order price.   All cancellations made on or after the date of the Web Seminar will be charged at the full amount of the order price.

  • What equipment do I need to join a Web-Seminar?

You can view the necessary system requirements from this link:

 http://rapra.wip.iws-hosting.co.uk/system-requirements.php

  • How Can I check that my computer will be able to access the link?

Occasionally a company's internal Firewall will prevent the downloading of the Web Seminar software (Citrix GoToMeeting/Webinar) for this reason it is recommended that you try the Connection Wizard link below to establish whether your computer will allow access to the software.

NB: this link will not download software to your computer, it will test whether your computer will be able to achieve a connection to Citrix GoToMeeting.

Click on the link below to test.  When asked if you want to 'run' or 'save', choose 'run'.

  • What is included with my Web Seminar?

The day before Web Seminar you will receive a copy of the presentation by e-mail, to enable you to prepare any questions that you may wish to put to your presenter.  The Web Seminar will be an online presentation in real-time, so that you can interact with your presenter.  There will be a Question and Answer Session of around 30 minutes at the end of the Web Seminar.

  • Can I ask questions during the presentation?

You can use the ‘online chat’ facility to ask your presenter questions during the presentation.  Your presenter will be able to see that you have a question and can either respond to you verbally, or chat back to you online.
